In the recent good weather I was able to put my climbing instructor hat on and teach some skills with two new outdoor climbers.

We had chosen the wonderful crag of Harrisons Rocks, which is a great venue for your first time outdoors.

The day started looking at setting up bottom rope systems, and the principles of good anchors. We then moved on to our first climb and learnt how to tie in and belay safely.

The crag was really busy that day, so we had to do a bit of searching to find climbs that were free.

In the afternoon my students practiced setting up anchors and bottom ropes, with useful advice and tips from myself.

Fantastic day!
